Hello Everyone,We just joined Italy Community. We recently moved from Ireland, and are now living in Italy. We were wondering about car insurance. Our vehicles have Irish plates, we are residents of Italy, and we understand that we have a year before we have to immatriculate the cars with Italian plates. In the meantime, our insurance in Ireland will cover us for a period of two months. Can anyone suggest an insurance company that will cover us while the cars have the Irish registration. Also any information on the immatriculation process and cost would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi, we have had insurance from Direct Line here in Italy, and they are far cheaper than Italsure, and we have found them to be very good. You can get a quote online, and then get it online too.

Re-registering your car to Italian plates should cost somewhere between €500 and €600 and is fairly straightforward. Go to a driving school/vehicle agency and they will do it all for you.
