New book re Servigliano PoW escapes
The Monte San Martino Trust newsletter includes a report on this event:
http://msmtrust.org.uk/home/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=2
The Trust offers bursaries to Italians to cometo the UK to study English. It is in recognition of the sacrifice made by many poor Italians in helping escapers after the Italian armistice in WW2
The newsletter (in paper form anyway) goes on to describe how two of the former students of the Trust got married in Amandola on 8th August this year. Wonder if anyone knows them?
It also records a thankyou letter from another Italian student, saying that two things had really struck him whilst staying in the UK
- precision about timekeeping (he describes Italians as more "elastici")
- cars immediately stopping as he approached a zebra crossing
If anyone wants a copy of the whole newsletter pm me and I'll try and scan it and send it
Anne
