P&O - Cheap Cross Channel Ferry Prices

01/29/2011 - 06:08

P&O have introduced a new ferry on the Dover - Calais route - its called the Spirit of Britain. They seem to have a special offer on at the moment [on this ship only] I've just booked a return crossing [car + 2] for £60 - significantly less than they are charging for the other ships in their fleet, so you have to check what its sailing times are I think the offer may need booking by the end of the month - but the price applied to my sailing in March So, if you know when you are going this year - its worth checking out

We have got to get around to booking our Dover/Calais/Dover ferry crossings for August, so I had a look at the P&O site and their offer for Spirit of Britain you refer to. Between my first search a couple of hours ago and my second search just now, the site has changed, and the offer now applies up until the end of March only.   Earlier today the site had said 40,000 any-time crossings were on offer, so I assume that quota has now been used up. This new ship is huge.  I hope the queuing system works efficiently - and that roads from the ports don't get clogged with the drive-off traffic.

Didn't think the offer would last long - glad I got it though [that sounds selfish - probably is!] --------------- " ......... hope the queuing system works efficiently - and that roads from the ports don't get clogged with the drive-off traffic." There will definitely be a case for turning left at the docks exit onto the road up the [steepish] hill and back to London on the old A2, thus avoiding the crush through Dover itself

Thanks for this tip - seems its not just that ferry - I have just booked returns in april over the easter hols for car and two passsengers for £60 on other P&O boats, eurotunnel wanted £130 for the same times. Cheapest on other carriers was £80. Am

We have been using Norfolk Line since they started their service from Dover to Dunkerque a few years ago and their prices are generally quite keen.  We usually add the VIP extra for the return crossing, which gives access to the VIP lounge (great on a crowded Saturday night ferry), but most of all, priority boarding and off-loading.  You are off the ferry ahead of the crowd, through the Customs, out the dock gates and away. I agree with the comment above that P & O's new ship is huge, but that means more cars to get on and off and longer queues at the Customs, which can be a real bottleneck in Dover.
