Earlier this month, the newly appointed Italian Ambassador to the United States, Claudio Bisogniero, announced that 2013 will be the Year of Italian Culture in the United States.

While 2011 was the Year of Italian Culture and Language in Russia, next year the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will promote the Bel Paese in the USA.

Sponsored by the Italian government and organised by Foreign Minister Giuglio Terzi di Sant’Agata, the project is designed to promote Italian culture across the country, from New York to San Francisco, Washington to Chicago, with a series of unique events that will highlight Italy’s contribution to scientific and technological advancement through the centuries, starting with the Renaissance.

Details, specific plans and events have not yet been announced but as, earlier this month, Ambassador Bisogniero launched his new Twitter channel @CBisogniero you can follow his account for more information or simply visit the website www.ambwashingtondc.esteri.it.
