"Gold to go" at Bergamo airport

Leaving Italy from Bergamo and not sure what to do with those last euro notes?

Well, now you can buy 24 carat gold ingots from a machine which was installed at Orio al Serio International Airport yesterday.

The machine functions just like an automatic coffee dispenser and monitors gold prices in real time via London Gold Fixing. You can pay by cash, debit card or credit card. Italians have already dubbed the machine “the bancomat for sheiks”.

Several different types and designs of ingot are available and you can also purchase various gold coins with a maximum weight of one ounce. A certificate of authenticity comes with your purchase.

We like the cute black presentation boxes but that’s all we can afford!

Would you buy a gold ingot from a machine?
