Bernardo Bertolucci will be honored at Cannes next month

Woody Allen’s Rome-based film has finally been named. The director told a French newspaper that the movie will be titled The Wrong Picture.

The American filmmaker will make an appearance in his Roman movie, but he made a point of revealing his plans to hire Italian actors. The film already boasts an all-star cast with Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, Alec Baldwin and Penelope Cruz slated to appear on screen.

While in Rome, Penelope Cruz can work on her language skills because she has also joined in talks to star in Italian director Sergio Castellitto’s next film. Cruz joked that “I guess I have to start studying Italian again,” in order to accept the role in Castellitto’s Venuto al Mondo.

With all the exciting news about future Italian film projects came the announcement that one Italian director would receive recognition for his past work. Bernardo Bertolucci will be awarded an Honorary Palme d’or at the 64th Cannes Film Festival next month.

Bertolucci will be recognized for his tremendous contribution to cinema. His classic works include Prima della Revoluzione (1964) and Novecento (1976).
