Ferrari contests being signed up for next season

Ferrari on Friday said it will not take part in the next Formula One season under proposed rules even though International Racing Federation FIA has included it in its list of teams set to compete in 2010.

FIA issued the list on Friday which included all teams competing this year plus three new entries.

However, FIA said that Brawn GP, McLaren, Renault, BMW Sauber and Toyota had to drop the conditions they set to take part in next year's season by June 19 decision in order to be allowed in.

If they do not, FIA said it would allow other teams to enter.

Ferrari, as well as Red Bull and Toro Rosso, had set the same conditions which all members of the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA), with the exception of Williams and Force India, adopted.

Williams and Force India signed up without any condition and were subsequently suspended from FOTA.

FIA apparently included Ferrari, as well as Red Bull and Toro Rosso, on the grounds that they had signed earlier accords which obliged them to compete.

In a statement issued after the release of the FIA list, Ferrari said:

''Ferrari submitted on 29 May 2009 an entry to the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship which was subject to certain conditions. As of today, these conditions have not been met.

''Notwithstanding this and despite Ferrari's previous written notice to the FIA not to do so, the FIA has included Ferrari as a unconditional participant in next year's Formula One World Championship.

''For the avoidance of any doubt, Ferrari reaffirms that it shall not take part in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship under the regulations adopted by the FIA in violation of Ferrari's rights under a written agreement with the FIA''.

Earlier this week, team principal Stefano Domenicali said that Ferrari would reject any ''automatic'' sign-up for next season.
