A breath of fresh air in Milan

A new boutique hotel due to open at the end of June in Milan will be the city's first zero emission hotel and one of the few such hotels in Italy.

The Milan Scala Hotel which, of course, takes its name from the opera house, is situated in the Brera artistic district and its décor and spaces are inspired by the city's music culture. There is a bar called the “Prima Donna” and a restaurant called “La Traviata”. Some of the rooms and suites are also dedicated to a particular opera. The lobby, once the nineteenth century building's courtyard, has a music library and individual music stations where guests can listen to their favourite tracks. It also has a crystal ceiling through which guests can view the vertical gardens.

The hotel's environmental credentials are impressive: a heat recovery system is employed to control the temperature of the rooms and energy is supplied only by companies which use clean and renewable energy sources. The hotel is therefore able to use and produce fuelless energy without releasing CO2 into the environment.

This is an exciting new address for tourists and business travellers alike.
