Hollywood stars Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel were married in Puglia, southern Italy on the evening of Friday 19th of October.

The wedding of singer and actor Timberlake to actress, model and singer Biel took place at the 5-star hotel Resort Borgo Egnazia in Savelletri di Fasano in Brindisi – one of the places cited as a possible venue by ‘Italy Magazine’ last month.

The star-studded ceremony took place after weeks of media speculation. The wedding venue was kept under wraps, to such an extent that even guests did not know the location until the last possible minute.

The newlyweds told celebrity magazine ‘People’: “It’s great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends.” The magazine is publishing exclusive photos of the ceremony in this week’s issue.

Known for its stunning views of the Adriatic, Borgo Egnazia was transformed into a fortress for the event but that did not prevent some fans from trying to break in according to ‘VanityFair.it’. The magazine also revealed that Biel arrived to take her vows via a spiral staircase built for the event. The Italian media has also reported that staff at the resort signed a confidentiality agreement saying they will not reveal details of the nuptials for the next five years.

The wedding is reported to have cost the newly-marrieds $6.5 million. Sources estimate there were 80 guests at the ceremony, which is thought to have been attended by pop singer Lady Gaga, cast member of TV’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ show Andy Samberg, ‘N Sync boy-band member Chris Kirkpatrick, rapper Timbaland and TV series ‘7th Heaven’ actress Beverly Mitchell.

There has been talk the couple would marry in Italy since September. Rumours reached fever pitch when the couple threw a fireworks beach party at Lido Cala Masciola last Wednesday, followed by a day-long excursion to the caves at Lama del Trappeto on Thursday for a party. At Lama del Trappeto guests stood around open fires, dining on local fare such as ricotta, buffalo mozzarella, friselle bread, olives and wine. They watched a performance of a traditional Presepe Vivente (Living Nativity) with dancing and music staged by 180 performers from the Pezze di Greco Cultural Association.
