Regional government and CNR unite to promote innovation18 million euros for 16 new applied research projects - The Tuscan regional government will support 16 new National Reserch Center (CNR) projects thanks to 18 million euro in resources, regional research superintendent Eugenio Baronti announced during the presentation of an agreement to be signed by regional president Claudio Martini and president of CNR Federico Rossi.

Baronti explained: ''We have set aside funds to complete projects in favour of research in Tuscany, for the integration of basic and applied research, for innovation and creation of networks between universities and research centres and businesses''.

One of the first initiatives deals with the Start project, promoted by the Tuscan region and CNR with the participation of the l'Istituto nazionale di ottica applicata (INOA).

During the first few days of the New Year another 15 agreements are to be signed, and include entities such as the Istituto di fisica applicata 'Nello Carrara' (IFAC), the Istituto di chimica dei composti organo metallici (ICCOM) and the Istituto di Biometeorologia (IBIMET).
