Top wine title ‘Wine Enthusiast Magazine’ includes Puglia in Italy in its pick of the ‘10 Best Wine Travel Destinations 2013’.

Each year, the American magazine’s editors travel the world to experience the best wine and food – and discover the most exciting places to visit. Its 2013 selection “represents the wide swath of cultural and culinary experiences on the must-see list.”

‘Wine Enthusiast Magazine’ describes Puglia as a “magical wine destination” and “a thin peninsula packed tight with stunning beauty and surrounded by some of the bluest waters in Europe.” Puglia features among the best destinations in the world for wine because it offers “something for all tasting types.”

Among the variety of wines praised by the magazine are the reds from Uva di Troia, Bombino Nero and Aglianico, the white Bombino Bianco and the sweet Moscato di Trani. The editors describe Puglia’s local wines as showing “ripe berry nuances, inky concentration and soft tannins.”

‘Wine Enthusiast Magazine’ singles out the Tormaresca, Masseria Altemura, Agrinatura and Castello Monaci vineyards as places to visit for wine tastings. The magazine also suggests visiting the boutique tasting rooms at Castel di Salve, Astore Masseria and Rivera.

Founded in 1988, ‘Wine Enthusiast Magazine’ has grown to become the world’s largest periodical devoted exclusively to wine and spirits.
