Journey to Ancient Egypt When You Visit the New Museo Egizio of Turin

If you love Egyptian archeology and anthropology, head to… Turin! Yes, because the new Museo Egizio (Egyptian Museum), housing the world’s second largest collection of Egyptian antiquities, was inaugurated on April 1.

The exhibition space, which doubled in size, from 4,500 to 9,000 square meters, features more than 6,500 artifacts, displayed on four floors connected by a system of escalators, which are meant to recall the idea of cruising up the Nile, as arranged by Oscar-winning production designer Dante Ferretti.

Founded in 1824, the Egyptian Museum of Turin is ranked among the top 10 most visited museums in Italy and among the top 100 in the world.

Don't limit yourself to the museum when you visit! We recommend you take some time to explore the city of Turin and surrounding area - here's a handy guide. Plus, you must try the city's signature chocolate delicacy, gianduiotto!
