A rare Ferrari 375-Plus, winner of the World Sports Car Championship in 1954, was sold at the price of £10.7m (€13.3m) during the annual Bonhams auction at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the U.K.

The price set a world auction record for a Ferrari sports racing car; it is also the second highest price paid for a car at an auction in Britain and the third highest worldwide.

The car is one of only five such models - 4.9-litre, V12-engined racer - and it competed at Le Mans, Silverstone and the Mille Miglia races. It could sprint from 0 to 60mph in just four seconds and could reach a top speed of 186mph, making it the fastest road car of the time. Ferrari made it drive only to the best racers, such as the Italian Umberto Maglioli and the Argentinian Jose Froilan Gonzalez.
