street directions in Italian

Below are a few words and expressions to help you out with directions in the city, if you need to reach the train station or a museum or other point of interest, perhaps using transportation within the city.

For example, if you need to ask where a bus stop is located, you’d say:

Mi scusi, sa dirmi dov’è la fermata dell’autobus 21? – Excuse me, do you know where the bus stop for the number 21 bus is located?

Or, if you’re not sure how to get to the train station:

Mi scusi, come si arriva alla stazione da qui? – Excuse me, how do I get to the train station from here?

Or, (the most important question!), you’re looking for a good gelato shop:

Mi scusi, c’è una buona gelateria qui vicino? – Excuse me, is there a good gelato shop near here?
