Valle dei Templi train

After more than two years, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento can again be visited by train. And not just a regular train, but a vintage one.

The railway line that goes from Porto Empedocle to Agrigento was inaugurated on June 8. The journey is quite spectacular as it crosses the Archeological Park of the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering breathtaking views over the valley. It stops at Temple of Vulcan, right in front of the building by the same name, and just a few meters from the historic Garden of Kolymbethra, a real archeological gem. The stop provides a beautiful view over the Valley of Castor, Pollux and Concordia. Part of the journey is along the coast with a view of the sea.

The Porto Empedocle-Agrigento segment is one of the oldest railway lines dating back to 1874.

Tickets can be bought the same day of travel at the train station or in advance online. Further information is available here.
