Italians have sex more often than the global average and like to do it in the kitchen.

According to a survey conducted by Italian company Doxapharma, Italians have sex 108 times a year, which is a little more than the global average of 103 times. This means Italians have sex approximately every three days.

Eight out of 10 respondents to a survey conducted by home-delivery food site ‘JustEat.it’ revealed that they swap a comfy mattress and silk sheets for marble-topped tables or a kitchen worktop to have sex. Some 82% of male respondents said they liked to “play chef” compared to 37% of women respondents, and 25% of respondents said they had sex in the kitchen at least twice a month.

However, not all is rosy for Latin lovers. The Doxapharma survey reveals that for four million Italian couples, sex does not last longer than two minutes. The survey reports that seven out of 10 Italians are dissatisfied with their sex life and that half of the women surveyed think of another man while having sex. The survey says that problems in bed mean that 8,000 Italian couples are considering infidelity or separation.

Doxapharma conducted the survey on behalf of the Società Italiana di Urologia (Italian Urology Society) and the Associazione Ginecologi Ospedalieri Italiani (Italian Hospital Gynaecologists Association). The survey involved a sample of 3,000 men and women, between the ages of 18 and 55.
