Amici di Italy Magazine,
Framed by the majestic sweep of the Alps, Piedmont (Piemonte) offers rich landscape of wide open spaces and hills, spectacular mountains and beautiful cities. Turin, the region capital, is famous for the historic buildings, the royal palaces of the House of Savoy, its Cathedral, its car industry but also because it was the set of a 1968 classic Michael Caine film 'The Italian Job'.
Myra Robinson gave us some tips about enjoying both the city, starting from its Museo dell'Automobile, and the nearby farming area of Le Langhe, birthplace of the Slow Food movement, famous for the fine wines and excellent food. She proposed a perfect itinerary for those who love Italian cars and food: "Turin and the Langhe: Slow Food - Fast Cars"
And Piedmont is also home to eight of Italy's best cafés, as chosen by Italy's gastronomic bible Il Gambero Rosso, so while in Turin, we suggest going on a café crawl to compare drinks and atmospheres. You can start from the ones we listed on our Top Three Cafés in Turin feature.
As this year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest Italian romantic composers of all time, Giuseppe Verdi, we launched a new series dedicated to his operas. This week our Homage to Verdi is dedicated to Aida.
This year we created a 2013 Italy Magazine desktop wallpaper calendar. We hope you liked the idea and downloaded the first months. It is now possible to download the April page dedicated to Spring.
A presto!
