Amici di Italy Magazine,
When we heard about the 'Miracle of Camp 60' we were truly moved and decided to share this amazing story with our readers. During the summer of 1941 approximately 1,200 Italians, captured during the North African campaigns, were taken from a camp in Egypt and transported to Orkney, Scotland, to help with the construction of the Churchill Barriers. The men left behind the 'Miracle of Camp 60' - a chapel that is today recognised around the world as a great symbol of hope and peace. This week we published Part I of this fascinating story written by Scottish author Philip Paris. Watch out for part II and part III over the next couple of weeks.
