Amici di Italy Magazine,
And even this week, Italy Magazine was all about love!
With "The Miracle Of Camp 60 - Part 2", Philip Paris, continued to tell us the story of how the famous Italian chapel in Orkney came to be created by Italian POW during the Second World War. This time he also told us how he discovered the love of Giuseppe Palumbi for a Scottish girl he fondly remembered throughout his life.
Our dual-language article is dedicated to the legend of Romeo and Juliet, and their romantic love. Find out about how these Shakespearean characters became linked to specific families in Verona and their palazzi, how you can write a letter to Juliet to confide your hopes or delusions about love, or say your vows on the balcony from which William Shakespeare's heroine is thought to have summoned her Romeo.
If you prefer a less popular destination, Myra Robinson took us to the little town of Monselice, in the Veneto, where they celebrate "a" Saint Valentine. Over the years, there has been some speculation as to the identity of St Valentine himself with two other possible "contenders" being Saint Valentine of Rome and Saint Valentine of Terni.
As Myra asked the custodian, "But what about St. Valentine?", she got this interesting reply: "Well, signora, perhaps it is, and perhaps it isn't, but we in Monselice believe that St. Valentine rests here, and we certainly enjoy celebrating his feast day every 14th February."
Alla prossima settimana!
