Amici di Italy Magazine,
This week we celebrated Martedì Grasso (Shrove Tuesday) with a special feature dedicated to Carnival celebrations in Italy. We proposed seven locations famous for their Carnival related events: Venice, Tricarico, Valle d'Aosta, Ivrea Viareggio, Mamoiada and Putignano. They are all very different from one another, but all worth a trip during Carnival celebrations.
Our food section presented a recipe for a traditional Carnival dessert: Galani. These delicious treats of the Venetian culinary tradition are a must on every table during the carnival season..
Italian-American movie-making maestro Martin Scorsese was recently awarded the highest accolade of the Fellowship of the 65th British Academy Film Awards. Julie Burns looked at his amazing career and his love for Italy and Italian cinema in particular..
On the 23d of February, we honored the 70th anniversary of the arrival in Orkney, off the north coast of Scotland, of around 1,200 Italian POWs publishing the final chapter of Philip Paris' account of the The Miracle Of Camp 60, where he explained how the Chapel built by the prisoners has become a world symbol of hope and peace.
Alla prossima settimana!
