Amici di Italy Magazine,
It's almost 60 years since the Allied invasion of Sicily, 'Operation Husky', that launched the Italian Campaign during WWII. The event was a huge turning point and signalled the start of the demise of both Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler. To remember those who bravely lost their life in the fight for freedom in Italy during WWII, we dedicated this week to the sacrifice of the first troops who landed in the country and honor their memory describing the touching atmosphere of Siracusa War Cemetery in Sicily.
For our interview series, this week we talked to Alex Polizzi, whose grandfather was an Italian immigrant who opened a milk bar on London's Regent Street in 1935, just before WWII started, and managed to turn it into an empire of over 800 international hotels. Following her family's interest for the hotel management business, Alex studied at Oxford University and through her experience and expertise made a name for herself which then drew the attention of UK television channels. As the presenter of two series - The Hotel Inspector and The Fixer - Alex is now a household name.
Finally, do not miss our language feature dedicated to friendship entitled "Friendly People". After all, as the Italians say "L'Amicizia è Sacra"!
A presto!
