This week we embarked on a journey around Northern Italy through the eyes of Thomas Coryate. In Shakespeare's time, "Odd Tom" was one of Jacobean England's most famous travellers and renowned eccentrics. Andrew and Suzanne Edwards told us about his journey, on foot, from his home in Odcombe,south Somerset, all the way to Northern Italy. The book he wrote on his return, Coryate's Crudities, reflects his humour and attitudes, but also reveals a wonderfully evocative portrait of Italy in the early 1600s.
This week Italy's Treasures is dedicated to the 'Unique' ,'Divine' ,'Terrible' Michelangelo Buonarroti.
Finally, the third lesson of our new Italian Language feature was dedicated to: Romantic language!
