Amici di Italy Magazine,
This week we took you around the South of Italy to discover its ancient past.
Manya Kaczkowski shared with us her experience of visiting Pompeii and delving into the history and daily life of a civilization destroyed and, at the same time, preserved by the Vesuvio's eruption in 79 A.D.
Going further South, Katharine Earley investigated the story of an extraordinary, mysterious find made by a Sicilian fisherman in the waters of the Mediterranean sea in March 1998, "Il Satiro". An ancient copper statue which laid silently on the seabed for 2,000 years.
Finally, with the UEFA European Football Championship kicking off on the 8th June we dedicated our last feature of the week to a controversial Italian ex-football player, Paolo Di Canio, currently managing Swindon Town team.
A presto!
