Amici di Italy Magazine,
Italy Magazine has its roots in the United Kingdom. Born from an idea of a British expatriate in Italy and an independent British publisher in love with Il Bel Paese, the magazine's special affinity with the UK continues to grow. Therefore, we took the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee to celebrate this special relationship between Italy and the United Kingdom.
The first feature of the week focused indeed on the Queen Jubilee, celebrating her special affinity with Italy and looking back at the many goodwill state tours in Italy and the Vatican.
Francesca Re Manning visited for us the London Library which gives shelter to a large number of Italian works, mainly in Arts, Literature and History. Thanks to its founder, Thomas Carlyle, who built it in 1841, several books and Italian manuscripts were acquired from the Rolandi Bookshop, a printing shop on Berners Street in the heart of Soho which provided a stable and reliable meeting point for Italian refugees and a hub for Italian cultural activity and debate. All the major figures of Italian culture gravitated towards that shop, from Foscolo to Mazzini, from Rossetti to Pepoli.
With the wedding season already upon us, for any bride - especially the style-wise Italian - we interviewed internationally renowned British designer, Caroline Castigliano, to understand the secrets behind a stunning wedding dress with a touch of Italian style finesse.
Finally, with perfect timing, the next UEFA European Football Championship match on Sunday will see Italy v England. Whether you will be watching the match drinking a beer or sipping prosecco.......Che vinca il migliore!
A presto!
