Amici di Italy Magazine,

We started the week with a special "Auguri" to all dads and to all Giuseppe and Giuseppine out there, as Italy celebrated Father's day and Saint Joseph on the 19th of March.

Rosemary McKinley shared her childhood memories with us describing the warm, special atmosphere of her aunt's house in Brooklyn when all the family gathered to celebrate Saint Joseph following the tradition of preparing special bread and setting up a "tavolata di San Giuseppe".

To help you recreate that atmosphere, we published a recipe for "Frittelle di San Giuseppe", a tradition common to many Italian regions. This is the Siena version made with vanilla and orange flavoured rice.

Finally, we described the advantages of booking a private tour of the Vatican and its Museum. Entering the museum without queuing for hours and enjoy two millenniums of art and history in a relaxed, stress free tour with the help of an expert guide is really a treat.

A presto!

ITALY Offers & Events

Practical help in a language you understand: IMU

Calling all those owning property in Italy. Have you heard about IMU? It is a new tax which applies to all properties, prima casa or not. Which means that if you have property in Italy, you need to be paying IMU.

Do you count as resident for IMU? If your property is just your holiday home, you don't, which means you won't be eligible for the discounted rate.

And if your property is registered at the Catasto as more than one unit (and many are) you will only get the discounted rate on part of your property.

How do you find out? If you send us your codice fiscale, we'll send you your land registration certificate FREE OF CHARGE.
