Amici di Italy Magazine,
This week we took you around the Veneto region talking about two of its treasures, a splendid garden in Verona and the symbol of Venice, the gondola.
Hidden behind the crumbling orange façade of Via Giardino in Verona you can find one of Italy's most attractive Renaissance gardens and best-kept secret - Giardino Giusti. Agostino Giusti, a Knight of the Venetian Republic and Squire of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, designed this lovely garden thus creating a world of Renaissance refinement that the English traveller Thomas Coryate described as a "second paradise" in 1611. Kate Wickers shared her experience of visiting the garden and finding her "Italian paradise".
When thinking about a gondola you either think about a romantic stroll around the Venice Grand Canal or about a clichè tourist attraction. But few of us actually think about the work and the history behind this symbol of the Serenissima. To find out more about it do not miss Anne Harrison's feature explaining why "even Gondolas need some love"!
For those with an interest in Italy's property market, Italian lawyer Nick Metta commented on Helen Mirren's disagreement with her neighbor in Puglia and offered advice on how to avoid similar problems.
A presto!
