Un ciao a tutti,
If you haven't heard yet, Romans had a major scare this week that fortunately proved to be unfounded. 30 years ago Raffaele Bendandi predicted that Rome would be hit by a major earthquake on May 11th, 2011. The day came and went and nothing happened in Rome itself, to the Romans' relief. Nevertheless, the Etna volcano in Sicily erupted (causing the Catania International Airport to shut down for a day) and there was an earthquake in Spain - which fueled speculation that Raffaele was not altogether wrong.
Next up, we need to see if a slightly more scientific and definitely less ominous prediction will come true. Meteorologists are predicting that summer will be cooler than normal this year in Italy. Seems this will affect mostly the north of Italy. That is not necessarily a bad thing given the heat waves of the past years. In any case, there will be plenty of sunny days to visit Italy's best beaches.
We close with a mention of a great Sardinian event that will take place in May in Sassari - La Cavalcata Sarda. Definitely an event not to miss if you are in Sardinia.
Until next time - saluti a tutti!
