This was a difficult week for Italy. On Saturday 19th of May, an explosion outside the Francesca Laura Morvillo Falcone Professional Institute in Brindisi killed a 16-year-old girl and left others wounded and severely burnt. The following morning, at 4.02 am a six magnitude earthquake, centred on a point 35km north of Bologna close to Finale Emilia in Emilia Romagna, ravaged northern Italy killing seven people and leaving over 3000 homeless.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Melissa's family and friends, and to all those who suffered during this terrible week-end.
To honor those who lost their lives in the earthquake and the Emiliani now facing the aftermath of the earthquake, we decided to dedicate this week to the region with three features by Sandra Srivastava on Ferrara, Parma and Bologna. Our simple way to wish this beautiful area of Italy all the best during this difficult moment.
