Amici di Italy Magazine,
The Amalfi Coast, in Campania, is one of the most inspiring and surprising stretches of the Italian coastline and Positano is the jewel in the crown. This week, we took you around Positano with its pretty coloured houses, cobbled streets, its quaint little beach and great café's, restaurants and boutiques, and suggested how to enjoy all the wonderful experiences the town can offer.
And while visiting the Campania region, trying the local wines has now become a must. Gino De Blasio reported on the resurgence of Irpinia's wines, Fiano, Greco di Tufo, Falanghina, Aglianico and Taurasi, considered as one of the regions best kept secrets.
Next Sunday, Italy celebrates la Festa della Repubblica which commemorates the institutional referendum of 1946 when the Italian population was called to decide what form of government (monarchy or republic) to give to the country after World War II and the fall of Fascism. After 85 years of monarchy, with 12,717,923 votes for and 10,719,284 votes against, Italy became a Republic.
This is one of the most important Italian public holidays which, like 14th of July in France and the 4th of July in the USA, celebrates the birth of the nation. We prepared a dual language article explaining this special celebration, so that you can also practice your Italian language skills.
Finally, as more and more people prefer renting a house or apartment for their holidays in Italy, we thought it would be useful to offer some language tips to help you communicating with the owner/agent in Italian upon arrival.
This year we created a 2013 Italy Magazine desktop wallpaper calendar. We hope you liked the idea and downloaded the first months. It is now possible to download the June page.
A presto!
