Un ciao a tutti,
As we were preparing this week's newsletter, news reached us that more heavy rain and strong winds are battering Genoa. Close to 1,000 students had to be evacuated after the downpour flooded school premises, 'Cristoforo Colombo' airport was closed and more people are missing.
To know more about the disaster that stroke areas of Liguria and Tuscany last week and to find out about how you can help Liguria go to our feature dedicated to Rescuing Vernazza.
As our guest writer Nicole Ruskell wrote:
"The most important thing you can do to help is to support the Cinque Terre with your business. The shops and restaurants are destroyed for the time being, but all the rooms are located well above any damage and should be unscathed. Vernazza should be open for business next season, so come back and visit soon and tell everyone you know to visit!"
This is why, as Italy Magazine, we decided to offer free advertising for a year on our accommodation listing to B&B or Hotel owners from one of the areas affected by the flood. If you are interested get in touch with us contacting accommodation@italymag.co.uk.
This week we also wrote about the incredible traditions linked to All Souls Day in Sicily and about the "Sagra del Cinghiale" (Wild Boar Feast) in Chianni, a small village 45 km south from Pisa.
Finally, Share Your Italian Book, was dedicated to Salgari's Il Corsaro Nero. Do not miss the wonderful story Nico Lorenzutti shared with us and find out how he fell in love with the book and ended up being the first one to translate Salgari's masterpiece in English.
If like Nico, you have an interesting review of an Italian book or a book about/set in Italy or you have an interesting story about your Italy related publication send it to us using the "Share your Italian Book" form.
Arrivederci!
