Un ciao a tutti,
As we were preparing this week's mailing news reach the Italy Magazine office of the Berlusconi government surviving yet another confidence vote. Another difficult week in Italian politics that sets the scene for several more difficult moments it seems. Rather fitting, therefore, that one of our feature stories this week is about a book that tackles this less pleasant but very interesting aspects of Italian life. C.R. Lloyd's "The Second Shot" tells the story of a middle-aged Italian man that has had enough of the mess of Italian politics and wants to change things. His methods are rather unique and make for a great read. The author also shares some snippets of her life in Italy and how she got to writing this book - great insights for anyone thinking to move to Italy.
No matter how bad things get Italians can always find something to make them laugh - and laughter is what the other feature story offers. Italian-American Marsha de Salvatore, born and bred in Ohio, decided you need all your sense of humor to cope with life in Rome as soon as she moved there. So living in Rome turned her into a talented comedienne at "Rome's Comedy Club", loved by expats and Italians alike, with events taking place every last Friday of the month.
Share your Italian Book
Many of you love reading books by Italian authors or about Italy while others, such as our featured author this week, have actually been inspired by Italy to write a book about Il Bel Paese. We would like to help share and spread each others' passion for books, through your reviews and your writers' stories with everyone so we set up a new feature called "Share your Italian Book". Visit this page and share your favourite books or the story of how you wrote a book about or based in Italy.
Arrivederci!
