Ciao a tutti,
September marks the beginning of the annual grape harvest for most wineries in Italy. This year Italy became the number one producer of wine in the world and, while waiting for more news about the current harvest, we look at the reasons behind this recent success with a dedicated feature entitled "A Win Wine Situation".
Love it or hate it, "strange food" like offal or tripe, horses or donkeys meat, are part of Italy's culinary history. We explore this tradition so that you can have a better idea of what to try or what to avoid while in Italy, depending on your personal taste.
Recently, the Italian government proposed to cut the Academia della Crusca's €190,000 in funding as part of new austerity measures to contain the current economic crisis. The Accademia della Crusca is considered the temple of Italian language, it was first instituted in 1583 and is also famous for having published the first Italian dictionary in 1612.
To celebrate the work of this historical institution and hoping for a change of direction on the government's part, we propose a Dual Language text on the history of the Accademia della Crusca for you to practice your Italian while learning more about the custodian of "La Bella Lingua".
A presto!
