Amici di Italy Magazine,
As the sun sets on this year's Italian Summer, Venice Film Festival, the oldest and one of the most important film festivals in the whole world, celebrates its 70th edition with celebrities, journalists and fans flocking to the lagoon.
We dedicated this week to "Venice and the Veneto you do not expect".
Silvia Donati's explored the Lido di Venezia where the Film Festival takes place every year. While during the festival this is one of the busiest and crowded area of the lagoon, during the rest of the year it is actually one of the most peaceful place to visit. A thin stretch of land extending in front of Venice for 11 km, that can offer a perfect one day tour away from the noise and tourist crowds of Piazza San Marco.
And for those interested in buying a property in the Veneto region, we looked at the Euganean Hills, a stone's throw from Venice but nowhere near as well-known as its world-famous neighbour. A wonderful area surrounded by stunning countryside, luxury hotels offering every treatment and pampering known to humankind and a richness of art and culture that you can only find in Italy.
For our bargain hunters, who love that special magic atmosphere of an Italian flea market in a sun-drenched historic town, or a grand arcaded piazza, we published Myra Robinsons guide to the vintage markets of the Veneto region where she also shared the experienced of putting up her own stall.
This year we created a 2013 Italy Magazine desktop wallpaper calendar. We hope you liked the idea and downloaded the first months. It is now possible to download the September page.
A presto!
