Amici di Italy Magazine,

This summer, American Publishing giants Scribner released a revised version of Ernest Hemingway's classic novel, A Farewell to Arms.

Mark Collinson explored Hemingway's long, and sometimes painful, relationship with Italy where he served as an ambulance driver on the Italian front during WWI in 1918. This experience inspired the book and made him a special guest every time he went back to visit the area and Lake Maggiore in particular.

This week, Italy Triumphed at the Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Awards. Il Bel Paese won the first prize in the 'Top 100 Best of the Best' category as best overall holiday experience while Sicily was voted 'Favourite Island', beating exotic destinations such as Bali, the Maldives, as well as the Greek and Spanish Islands, thanks to its culinary tradition, climate and hospitality.

And talking about Sicily and its food, do not miss our article reporting on this year edition of the Sherbeth Festival, the International Gelato Festival recently hold in Cefalù, in Northern Sicily. Find out this year winning gelato flavour!

A presto!

ITALY Offers & Events

TAX ALERT - Do you need to file?

We are hearing of increasing numbers of non-Italians getting stung for not filing tax returns in Italy. Are you sure you shouldn't be filing too? Remember, whether resident or not, if you earn any income at all in Italy - for example from renting out your property - you should be filing. If your house has a catastal value of over €500, you should be filing. If you live in Italy for most of the tax year, you should be filing.

It's not too late - you can still pay with a little extra interest and file up until the end of September. If you are in any doubt as to what your obligations are, please get in touch.

And if you want to check the catastal value of your property, just send us your codice fiscale and we'll get a certificate to you FREE OF CHARGE.
