Amici di Italy Magazine,

With summer officially over, Italians are back to work and getting ready for the Autumn-Winter season. Children are back to school, beaches are abandoned to tourists from colder climes and "i vestiti di mezza stagione" (literally "the middle season clothings") resurface in the wardrobes as people start working on the "cambio di stagione" (change of season). This week, Carol King explained what constitutes this important ritual of the year in Italy.

As we go back to school or back to work, what about starting the new season with an Italian bag? Manya Kaczkowski visited the Piquadro headquarter for us and told us the story of this successful Italian company producing functional elegant bags, which started with a daring 22-year-old engineering student, Marco Palmieri, and a belt.

Finally, Gabi Logan explored the Italian fashion enigma, Miuccia Prada. Mime. Doctor of political science. Communist. Aristocrat. Women's rights activist. Billionaire. Will she ever become the next great Italian politician? That would definitely be a "change of season" in Italian politics!

A presto!

TAX ALERT - Do you need to file?

We are hearing of increasing numbers of non-Italians getting stung for not filing tax returns in Italy. Are you sure you shouldn't be filing too? Remember, whether resident or not, if you earn any income at all in Italy - for example from renting out your property - you should be filing. If your house has a catastal value of over €500, you should be filing. If you live in Italy for most of the tax year, you should be filing.

It's not too late - you can still pay with a little extra interest and file up until the end of September. If you are in any doubt as to what your obligations are, please get in touch.

And if you want to check the catastal value of your property, just send us your codice fiscale and we'll get a certificate to you FREE OF CHARGE.
