Are you happier living in Italy than you think you'd be living back were you came from?My wife and I visited Tuscany for three days in July and loved it. We're thinking of buying a place there, but I wonder deep down if people are happier living in Tuscany or we're just sold a dream. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

A little question that would really require a massive answer! So get yourself on the web and read forums like this …. Look up what do I need to do to move to Italy, where are the best places to buy, Tuscany is expensive unless you are looking at the north of the area. There are a number of different types of people living here and it depends where you fit. Some have bought and live and work here, some with family, some without. Then there are those that simply have a holiday home here or live here several months of the year. You also have a lot that buy and retire here… We know many that lost a lot of money as they found that living here was not what they expected. We rented for 6 month before buying, looking back this was probably not long enough, after 6 years I’m still not sure how long you need to rent, but certain you should. We knew it would be difficult and possibly take years if we needed to sell the house here, so think carefully. Finally in short as an answer to your question we don’t regret a thing.
