Hello again, I liked all your comments from February.  I am considering a trip to the area to research my family.  Is there anyone reputable that could research for me before I make the trip and does anyone know the cost to do that?  I will be traveling with my sister in law and would like to know what accommodations there are in the area of Bulonbergo?  I hope I spelled it correctly!  I realize it is almost 2 hours from Naples where we will fly into.  We will rent a car and hope to see the village and find out more about my ancestors.  I also want to visit Cantina Caggiano and see if he is a relative .  We are hoping to visit in April or May.  Any suggestions would be so helpful!  I have never travelled overseas so this is very important I get as much information before I make the trip!  Ciao Jeanne

Well best wishes for your first trip! You still have lots of time to research and plan and hopefully someone here can give you first-hand knowledge of your destination. Not too sure what information you got in Feb, but there is lots of information on the web about almost everywhere. Have to say for a first trip, Italy is a big step. Had a look at streetview on Google here and Buonalbergo (Wiki and Google spelling, assuming this is the place). looks a lovely place, but is on the small side regarding facilities. This site will give you information on the Comune there, stats show less than 2000 people. I would suggest you also use Google maps and streetview to have a look at the road trip from Naples. At major junctions you use streetview and capture pictures (using the likes of snipping tool) the signs for your junctions and exits and put them on a tablet or print them and take them with you. Hopefully you will know a lot more about your destination before you get there...

Thank you Large Lewis for your response.  Yes Buonalbergo is a small village.  We will have to stay somewhere and may check with a travel agent as to somewhere nearby.  I would like to find someone that could do some of the researching for us before we make the trip.  I would be willing to compensate for their services to find out about our ancestors there.  I have names and dates of birth.  I am really looking forward to seeing where my great grandparents and my grandfather and his siblings started their beginnings!  Thank you again.  Jeanne Smith

Try contacting the Museo del Cognome (Museum of the Surname). They are on Facebook and the website is http://www.museodelcognome.it/ I have used them and they are very helpful.  They are in Padula (about 2 hr drive from Sorrento) but can research all of Italy.
