Hi All, I'm a freelance journalist and recent expat in Italy. I'm working on a series of articles about moving to Italy and am searching for someone who has come to Italy on a Visto Elettiva Residenza -- a retirement visa -- and who would be willing to talk with me about the process. Thanks!!

If I can be of assistance, happy to.  I have extensive experience in this process and it's daunting, protracted and complicated. I was thinking of writing a story about this but it continues to evolve as the Italian system is forever changing.  ~ Addison Assisi

Thank you Addison, I've since written the piece -- it should come out in Transitions Abroad's next Europe issue sometime in February or March -- but I could always use good sources! The process is so very complicated, I just hope that a step by step article can provide some assistance to those who decide to do it. I see that you're a writer also, do you write about Italy as well? Cheers! Gina

Dear Gina,Just getting into a groove, feeling out the area, the people, the unbelievable and the believable.  I'm working on a book that will be more of an epic ... romance, families, drama and more... I hope.   Right now I"m looking to connect with ex pats in the Assisi area ... not so easy.  If you wish to send me your draft of the article I can give you a real time update on the process that I just completed and in fact have two more steps.  It includes some pricing and tips that have changed recently.   Best regards, Gina,  Addison

That's great Addison! It takes awhile I think. I'm surprised that there aren't many expats in the Assisi area  it's so beautiful!! But I guess it's more for tourists and locals than expats. You'll be the start of the expat community there! Thank you for the kind offer, but the article is finished and submitted, waiting publication at the magazine. I try to follow all the bureaucratic changes to keep it up-to-date.

Hi Tim, Cristina, Thank you for your response! Actually, I've already finished the article (it should be published at TransitionsAbroad.com within the next month or so) but I write constantly about Italy. If I ever need a follow-up piece I hope you don't mind if I contact you both! Thanks again, Gina

Hi Tim and Cristina, Nice to "talk" with you again! I'm now working on a new piece for International Living Australia and I'm looking for Australians living abroad. Would you mind sharing your story a bit for a possible article? Why Italy? What was the process like (I imagine long!) my email is gmoose4@gmail.com. I hope to talk with you more! Gina
