We are driving a Camper-van from Pisa to Dunkirk in March over 9 days. We to spend a couple of days in Italy and drive back via Germany and Luxembourg. Grateful for any suggestions. Prefer to avoid long stretches on motorways. Thanks

I think you need to give us a bit more info, if you want some real suggestions. Things like;-

  • when you say you'll take 9 days, are you hoping to stop for a day or two in places that interest you [if so, what is of interest], or are you intending to do say 100 miles a day [to give an afternoon/morning at a location] and do overnight stops all the way
  • Route - I think you need to flesh it out a bit, so people get a feel for where you think you want to go

Suggestion - get some detailed road atlases if you want to avoid motorways [I bought some through Amazon] Hope this helps

Palmanova in with it's octagonal street layout is worth a stop for a light lunch. If you like war stuff Monte Grappa , Redipuglia and  Caporetto (Slovenia) are impressive. You could do with more time though to enjoy the trip.
