We will be two couples traveling

06/02/2014 - 10:36

We will be two couples traveling through Italy, actually from Milan (2 days) to Tuscany Region (3-4 days) to Campangnia (remainder of our stay).  We own property in Praiano so we do not need any informaiton regarding this region.  Our travel is from 9/20/14 through 10/3/14.  We would like recommendations for the first week, specifically staying on a working farmhouse.  We are renting a car so travel is not a problem.  We also plan on visiting Pisa, going to a thermal spa, and hopefully soaking up local color. Can you make any recommendations?...we are on a tight budget too!  Grazie!

Val d"Orcia?A visit to La Foce followed by a bathe at Bagno Vignoni either at the Adler Spa Thermae (expensive but luxurious) or the outdoor pools at the Hotel Posta Marcucci.  Lovely restaurants in the village there too...

Praiano! How lucky you are! We spent a great week there last year. As you wish to come to Tuscany,  I think that you would enjoy Bagni di Lucca, where we spend part of the year, thermal spa and just a beautiful place, handy as a base to visit Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Siena, Volterra...All can be done on day trips. There are some working farmhouses in the area. I will try to find out their names.

I personally really love the Val d'Orcia region of Tuscany, if you base somewhere like Pienza, you can visit Montepulciano, Montalcino (great wine region), Monticchiello, and the thernal baths at Bagno Vignoni which are memorable. A great guide to Pisa can be found here https://www.italymagazine.com/featured-story/day-tripper-pisaBagno Vignoni http://girlinflorence.com/2014/04/14/returning-to-bagno-vignoni-serendipity-alive/.  most of all have fun!
