As far as I'm aware ICI has to be paid from the start of owning a house in Italy.       i.e the minute you sign on the dotted line. We have paid every year and you need to go to your Comune to find out how much and must do so every year thereafter, to otherwise late payments will include a heavy fine, so would urge to get on to it asap. Also think that you can pay bi-yearly.

Thanks for all your advice, I believe that the car hire companies also rent spaces in Spain for a good price, so I will look into this forst. If anyone knows anything about this I would be grateful for any info.

Hi, I am trying to find out if there is any long term parking available near Pisa airport. After 8 years of renting cars approx 5/6 times a year, I feel we could have bought two or three at this stage. I am aware that parking like this is available in Spain, ie. you leave your car there over a period of time and the garage will start it on a regular basis to keep the battery alive etc., for a very reasonable annual fee, anything would be cheaper than renting.

Well said, couldn't agree more, find this site difficult to navigate and althought it is as informative as the last, miss the "gentle sparing and chat" and I mean gentle sparing, never liked the nasty things people said about each other nor the "groups" that appeared to try to maniplate things. But the sparing was good and quite entertaining, although I do understand that all the nasty things had to be stopped. It's just a pity that we couldn't keep the good things.................as well thats life.

Don't know if this will help you but we have a problem with an external staircase and a cantina underneath it and it was suggested that we tile the area with swimming pool cement and tiles, Thought it was a good idea and am planning to do same next year. I believe it works out reasonable cheap, although the cement is pricier than the tiles

We also do much as the above, we have a house up the mountains and turn everything off before we leave, good idea about flushing the lo etc., after turning off the water. When we go back in December the house can take up to 24hrs to heat up beacuse it's an old building but we keep the heating on and have plenty of hot water bottles and use two duvets to keep warm, nice an cosy..................No problem with the linen or clothes as the house is not damp, they are just generally cold and don't take long to heat up. We are also in the Lunigiana region.........beautiful snow capped mountains. Wish I was there now.................

Like you, we only manage to get to our house around 5/6 times a year and have had the water bills paid directly from our bank, for the last 6/7 years and never had a problem. So it is possible to do it, just need a friendly banker with perhaps a little English  (on our part)

I would totally agree with you, this person is monopolizing the forum for some peculiar reason and this needs to be adressed asap. This has nothing to do with Italy, perhaps he needs to go find another site/forum for this.
