I'm having difficulty finding information in italy on my ancestors. Does anybody have suggestions on where to look? I have accounts with ancestry.com and myheritage.com, but haven't found a lot.
My husband and I are taking our first trip to Italy next fall. I won't be using a travel agency as we are only going to one place, Orta San Giulio. I've chosen a vacation rental and know the closest airport is Milan-Malpensa.
My husband and I will be taking a one and only trip to Italy in 2018 to celebrate his retirement. My family is from Lucca, but I don't know if that is where we will go. I really want to find the ultimate italian village to relax and enjoy in.
I don't have a lot of details. My mom didn't know a lot and some of what she thought she knew was wrong. I know both of their birth dates and that they came from Lucca. I have found some things on my grandfather, whom I never met, but nothing on my grandmother. It's almost like she didn't exist, which I know she did because I spent time with her until she died when I was 15. Oh, and I have the date they were married, but can't find any record of that either.
