Dog walking around Bagni di Lucca

02/27/2010 - 15:05

Evening everyone, We're planning to drive to Bagni di Lucca this year with our dog (Jack Russell called Stan) and was wondering if anyone could advise of some easily accessible  walks (i'd rather not drive for 40 mins up to Abetone every day) Stan loves to stretch his legs running and chasing anything that moves so am looking for places not to far away but away from the road. Any thoughts would be gratefully received!

Hi Richard. It will be difficult within Bagni di Lucca itself as dogs are supposed to be kept on leash in parks such as Contessa Cassalini. I would add that it will also be dangerous for the dogs because of the existing traffic. We don't have that problem as our dog is an elderly lady who is not up to much running around, anyway. I checked the Comune site and there is no information. Perhaps a visit to the Tourist Information Service, near the Town Hall may be of help.

Hi Gala, Thanks for checking the comune site, looks like I'm just going to have to drive up into the hills! We're in Ponte A Serraglio so at least we can pop over to the grassy area by Villa Fiori / the New bridge to shake out the morning cobwebs! By the way, do you (or anyone) know what's happening to the river downstream of Borgo a Mozzano? When we were over if February there seemed to be some major works on the go and they seemed to be altering the course of the river.
