O license for over 75 quintale vehicles?

I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but it seems to be the only place I can put it.   My question is fairly simple (I hope).   I have a 7.5 tonne van and am looking to bring it over with me to Italy when I finally move here full-time (next year, I hope).   In the UK I need to have an "O" license to keep such a size of vehicle, which is a license for the legal parking of the vehicle, putting it simply. It has nothing at all to do with the driving license, which I realise can be a problem for some people without a class C license - I have a class C entitlement on my licensa, so that is not my question.   Is there a requirement in Italy for an "O" license (operators license) or whatever the Italian version of it would be. I can find nothing on the ACI website that might point me in the right direction.   Can anyone help?   Thanks. Beery.

Hi Berry, I think you should hold a Patente C (C licence), which allows you to drive vehicles over 3,5q and to transport goods - since Patente B is valid for vehicles till 3,5 q. I also know that your licence is valid in Italy if you come from a country that is part of EU, but it would be better to go at "Motorizzazione Civile" (should be the DMV, Department of Motor Vehicles) closest to you, just to be sure you don't need to translate it. You can find more info on this website: http://www.patente.it/ecom.dll/noAjax?idc=985 It's in Italian only so if you need any further clarifications don't hesitate to ask for.;) bye Valentina

Thank you for that, Valentina. I am not concerned about my driving license, as I hold a full class C license for driving goods vehicles of all weights. My question is only relating to whether I need to get any kind of an operators license (not anything to do with a partita IVA either) for the keeping and parking on my own site of a goods vehicle over 7.5 tonnes (75 quintale) as I have to have in the UK. In the UK, one MUST hold an "O" license if one is to park the vehicle anywhere other than an authorised goods vehicle park - very expensive and not many of them. Perhaps I should stress that this applies only to goods vehicles that have tachographs fitted. Thanks again for the answer, Valentina - I appreciate the effort and the link for anyone wanting driving license (patente) information.   Beery.
