Hi, Spent Christmas in the house and decided to clean out the pizza oven in the back of the fireplace. So on my next trip I thought I should try to fire it up and have a go at coooking in it. My question to all you out there: are the tools needed for a Pizza oven easy to get in Italy: Pizza peel, pizza brush (Copper) Etc. Wondering if I should buy here and take or buy when I am over there. House is in abruzzo.   Cheers Zeb

The local Ferramenta (Iron monger) should have them, I got a big long handled aluminium spatula thing for 20 euros  and he stocks the metal brushes too. He might not have them on display at the moment, so just ask. Home made pizze  are hard to beat!

Thanks for your comments. I have found a local trade supplier selling peels for £12 so i will probably buy this and take it with me. I do find that lots of things are pricy over there. I will probably buy the brush over there (hard to find here) I did have a go at making my own from scratch. It was Belissimo! So will definatley be making some when I get over there next time.

You can buy al the professional looking tools that you need at Brico at Citta delle Stelle near Castel di Lama; Big Store (Catering Suppliers but open to the public) on the national road between San Benedetto del Tronto and Grottammare, although I'm also sure that you'll find all you need at the Brico at Alba Adriatica.
