Thanks to the very knowledgable people in this community, I have found out that IMU (on my seconda casa) should only be paid to the local comune. I have however paid both payments (june and dec) to both state and comune.Any suggestions as to what to do?Can I reclaim from Italian governement, if so how?Or is it up to the comune to sort it out?Much appreciate any good advice and comments :-)

Any joy with your Imu payment. Think we are in the same situation, paid our IMU in Nov before we left for England, after the comune said it would be fine to do this, but as yet still showing unpaid.ONLY IN ITALY!!  think they need to come and see how its done in England.

If you paid to state and comune you would have paid 50% each, instead of paying 100% to the comune.   Keep your proof of payment and forget about it.

Yes sure it will sort it will sort out. Have written and telephoned but as yet no reply. Mind you when we went to pay our last tax before IMU they had no record of us any any previous payments.    Only in. Italy!!!

I have contacted the local commune, who replied that according to the guidlines I had to send them copies of what I had paid to who and when, and that this could be done by email. So I scanned in the copies and sent them, and consider the case closed......until they come back to me in about 10 years asking why I have not paid properly!! ;-)But seriously, I recieved a prompt reply to my email query and clear request for the necessary documents.

We have a house in abbruzo . We paid imo at the post offce in our town in Italy. We were told we had to make a payment each ?  Is this right?  The house is in both myself and my husbands name?  Do you pay IMO every year and will it be the same amount?  Thanks.  Ali
