I Am looking for a house to buy in

I Am looking for a house to buy in Italy. I found a beautiful home but am not as familiar with the town, and cannot find much regarding the location. Can anyone tell me a bit about Colledara, Teramo in Abruzzo? It looks beautiful but I think it may be too quiet for me. I like walking to shops and restaurants. Thank you for your answers.katie

Colledara is a nice town in Teramo. It is near the sea and mountains and the pretty city of Teramo. I notice it has a lot of land and houses for sale at present. There are many facilities around and in neighbouring villages. I am sure that the neighbours will be as helpful as mine. But I do not have first hand experience of the town itsel.f I have a small place in Cermingano in Teramo.

Colledara is off the motorway, good point, but we have passed the exit to it a few times (the limit of our knowledge) and it does seem far up in the mountains! So, check distance from the nearest airport, can you get from the house to the motorway when there is 10’ of snow. There are about 2000 people living there, so it’s a small town/large village. Could be 1 restaurant or 5-6, depends on your luck. Lots more information here http://www.comuni-italiani.it/067/018/ if you know what to look for? For example there was 7 UK people living there in 2012 (last stats). Have you done a google street view of the place? I’m assuming you have not actually been there? It really depends on what you are looking for, it is isolated in some ways, but the up side is it will have stunning views. Get back if you want more input.smiley

Hi Katie! Colledara is a small village which is perfect for nature lovers. The place is famous for producing a good goat cheese, there are many porcini in the woods around, beautiful environment etc. But without passion to a solitary life you'll feel pretty boring here. Especially without a car. Here it is the official site of Colledara http://www.comunedicolledara.gov.it/turismo/ ,  you can get some information about this place and you could even count the number of bars and restaurants here smiley:  http://www.comunedicolledara.gov.it/sitturistico/ If you need some advices which place in Abruzzo will siut your purposes better I'll be glad to help you.
