HelloIn the process of moving to Sesta Godano in Liguria, and have been enjoying the varied and helpful conversations on Italymagazine, so I thought it was time I jumped in too.We are considering levelling a bit of land and putting an above ground pool on it.  Then to contruct some decking around it so it looks like a normal sunken pool, my query is to do with planning permission.  I have read that it is not needed for above ground pools, as treated as a temporary fixture, the decking will also be easily taken down if we decide to remove the pool.I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has gone down this route and whether you contacted your Commune for planning permission.Kind regardsCK

Sorry don't know anything about pools!  Can I ask how you came to choose Sesta Godano?  Is this a holiday home or permanent?  My family came from Zeri so I have travelled through Sesta numerous times.  Hope you are settling in well.

Hi We fell in love with the area, and it's closeness to many other wonderful places.  Managed to find a lovely house on a hill with views to die for, so will be very happy once we settle in. Haven't visited Zeri, but it's on our list!

Definitely check with the comune but also ask a local geometra or architect. Some places hve very strict rules on moving earth around. This is called a "vincolo idro-geologico" it is by no means the same in every area so I suggest you check if the project requires digging into a hillside.

HiThanks for the advice, I think we have now decided to contact a geometra, we already have a contact from when we did the survey on the house, and to go to the commune threw him :-) Better to be safe than sorry, thanks again for your insight.
