Drivng license

If you hold a Full EU Drivers Licence it is valid in any country of the EU with out the need for endorsements. So as long as it is valoid in your Country of Residence you do not need anything to use it in another EU country.

Depends on if you still have a UK address, DVLA will not put a foreign address on a UK license, so if your Italian address is your only one then you do need to do this to drive in either country. If you get stopped in Uk with wrong address you will be fined. I got stopped last year in Italy and told if I am resident here and this is my main residence then my license needed to be 'recognised' They send your license away (so you need a receipt in order to continue driving) you pay for an eye test, and for the 'pink sticker' and the total will be around €60 it was fairly painless and easy to do compared to other stuff that we have to do over here. Needs to be redone every ten years, or five years if you want to drive with a trailer.

I'm guessing from your mention of the 'pink slip' that you have already had your licence recognised in Italy. These expire on a sliding scale of years depedning upon age and and you will have to have a medical (more complex as you get older) to renew it. As qui gia' points out you do need to get this done. This expiry date is independent of the expiry date of either your UK licence or your UK photocard.

Count yourself lucky! As a Canadian my licence couldn't be recognized and I had to go through the whole tortuous Italian system along with the 18 year olds - driving school, exams, driving tests. It was kind of hilarious looking back; lots of good stories! But arduous and expensive.
