Hi all, I am buying a home in Bagni Di Lucca and wondering if there is a place to meet any local English speaking member of the community or in the surrounding area? Returning on the 16th December, it would be great to meet for a Christmas drink or two with anyone out there.

Hi and welcome. Bagni di Lucca is a beautiful town and you will enjoy it. There are quite a fewbEnglis-speaking people in the area, British, Americans, Australians; however, there are not any organised meetings. On the other hand, there are two places where you will find them. These are the Caffes Italia and Il Monaco, in Ponte a Serraglio and Caffe-ristorante Del Sonno in Bagni di Lucca, opposite the Circolo  dei Forestieri.  We are not going to be in Bagni at Xmas time as we do not reside there permanently. We go twice a year, in Spring and Autumn, so perhaps we shall meet next time when we are around.

Hi Mark. We live close to Bagni so if you want a chat over a coffee/Glass of Wine/Beer, then send me a PM (you'll find it in the column on the right) We'd happily meet you. Ciao.smiley

Mark, you may be interested in having a look at a blog from an Australian lady who has an apartment at Ponte a Serraglio: www.bellabagnidilucca.com Lots of interesting stories and data about the area. She started with another blog called Bagni di Lucca and beyond, but she has now decided to make a separate one for Bagni, as it has lots of contents. Debra Kolkka, the author, is very active in promoting the area. She also pays for and maintains all the flowers on the Serraglio bridge, changing them twice a year, matching the arrangements she plants in her balcony, which faces the bridge. A lovely person to meet.

Thank you for you kind words Gala Placidia. I will be back in Bagni di Lucca fromthe end of January until the end of May. If you are around at that time Mark, ring my bell on the door beside the traffic light near the bridge at Ponte a Serraglio.

A pleasure, Debra. You know how much I admire your work promoting and maintaining the area. And Mark, if you can't find Debra's place, ask around. Everybody knows her. We shall also be there around Aprilil-May. Send us a PM, as our place is not as visible as Debra's.

Exactly Flip...with my limited knowledge I have tried to help a few people out on here..would be nice to get a Thank you..or at least a response!! Hey ho! (Apologies to the nice people who have replied)

I'm sure sometimes it's just some 'looser' trolling, just for the sake of annoying someone. I know this forum/community has its fair share of muppets, but at least they have the decency to reply. So to all you a out there who post and then never reply to people who have bothered to sit down and offered help/advice/pointers, just don't bother in future. angry
